4 Ways to Enjoy the Longer Winter Evenings

You may or may not have realised that this weekend the clocks go back. Yes, just in time for all those Halloween parties! But after the fun is over, this also means dark mornings and long winter evenings lie ahead until March. Yay. But it’s not doom and gloom – in fact, we think you should look on this as an opportunity rather than an obstacle. There are plenty of ways you can make the most of long winter evenings and here are just a few ideas to see you through until the spring…

Bake Up a Storm

This week see’s the last ever final of The Great British Bake Off to feature on the BBC and let’s just say as a nation, we’re not too happy about it. But picking up a spatula yourself and turning on that oven will at least go some of the way to filling the BBC Bake Off hole in your life. We put together a blog post with a number of different baking tips as well as some Ocado voucher codes to help you out with the cost of ingredients, and there’s even tips on where to find the best mug cake recipes because let’s face, baking can be a bit of an effort.

Treat Yourself to Some New Bedding

There’s only one thing better than sleeping under newly-laundered sheets and that’s sleeping under brand new sheets AND a brand new duvet. This is because a cold, dark winter’s evening is the best possible time to curl up under a new duvet with a higher tog count, or perhaps even invest in some eiderdown. Our blog post give you some more reasons as to why we should be looking forward to winter as well as the latest Slumber Slumber discount vouchers to save on that winter bedding.

More Leisure Time

Does anyone actually enjoy leaving the house in the cold weather? If someone calls to cancel plans, can we honestly say we disappointed at the thought of not having to venture outside? Of course not. Because winter leisure time is all about staying indoors and catching up on your favourite books, TV shows, films and music. Which is exactly how it should be.

Halloween and Bonfire Night

The double whammy of autumnal celebrations doesn’t exactly ease us into winter, but rather give us a slightly scary shove (in the most jovial way possible). Every year Halloween seems to be more and more popular and no doubt in ten years’ time we’ll have caught up with the level of Halloween madness that takes place across the Atlantic. For those of you who fall squarely in the pro-Halloween camp, we put together a post about all the great things to look forward too when Halloween approaches, including some Angels Fancy Dress promo codes to help you perfect that costume.

So even if you plan on not getting out of your bed for the next few months, there’s still plenty to celebrate about the impending winter season. And if you’re still dreading it, well then, just think about Christmas – not long to go now!
